I dislike the word weird. To me, everything should be more like this Empire of the Sun video:

trash cans and false taxonomies

Recently, I’ve been struggling with a common question: “What do you do?” I always respond simply with “I’m a designer,” but I’ve learned to brace myself for the look on the person’s face that invariably follows. It’s not one of disdain or any other negative expression, but just a blankness that clearly says “I have no idea what that means.” I should note, at this point in the article, that this is not about design advocacy or how designers should educate the masses (those ridiculous ideas will be for another week). The problem is far simpler than that. They want to know what you design.

Max Tannone, the man behind the Radiohead x Jay-Z mashup, was nice enough to write in with a link to some new tracks he’s calling The Encore. I’ve always been fascinated by Jay’s writing and rapping but the production has never quite done it for me. If that sounds like you or you just want to hear some good jams then head to the Jaydiohead site to download a copy. Oh, yeah — it’s free! Thanks, Max.
