/ This blog isn’t really about anything in particular. I don’t like categorizing things because inspiration comes from everywhere. Good ideas come in all forms.
/ I already know it’s nothing that hasn’t been done before.
/ I started this site because my bookmarks folders were overflowing, because there are so many fantastic ideas out there that I want to share, and because, like everyone else, I have an opinion I feel some odd need to inflict upon others.
/ I don’t really believe in selling people on things. I’d rather make a good product that sells itself and grows organically. As such, I don’t optimize for SEO, have advertising, promote this site, or anything of that sort. That said, I don’t mind seeing the little site grow so feel free to share what you find here.
/ Comments are turned off. I know it’s not in the spirit of the internet, but comment boards can be horribly depressing. Just enjoy what you see (or don’t), and leave it at that.
/ I am opinionated and I enjoy well-placed swear words. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
/ What does new/ stuff offer that some other blogs don’t? Probably nothing. But hopefully you’ll still find some new things, some useful insights, and a good breadth of topics. I’d like to think I curate a nice collection here so that you don’t have to toil over the same ridiculous number of bookmarks as I do.
/ The goal of the site’s design is to minimize the amount of navigating and focus on the images. You’ll do some scrolling, sure, but you won’t have to do a lot of clicking. I worry about accessibility at work, but this is for me: it’s best in Safari or Firefox on a nice big monitor, preferably on a Mac.
/ I am making updates to the site and the user experience as I have time. Suggestions are welcome.
/ Everything you see here has been made, and sometimes also discovered, by someone else. As such, I will always do my best to attribute posts to their respective authors and sources.
/ Submissions are welcome! With that said, if you’d like me to post your work, don’t make your portfolio site a navigational nightmare. If I have to make a lot of choices, deal with too much Flash, or you think the title of the project has any meaning to me (you may know what the project was called but I sure as hell don’t), I’ll probably leave. Also, what’s the difference between drawing something, taking a photo, or setting type? You’re making stuff. Make it easy on us.
/ All images are the property of their respective authors. I try to respect that by sharing images in a responsible manner. If you want something taken down because you’ve not learned to share yet or you’re really concerned with having to exercise ownership over things, just say so.
/ I am currently looking for a design agency in a big city that wants to adopt me. Work samples provided upon request until my portfolio gets rebuilt.
/ Please feel free to get in touch, whether it’s to say you hate the blog, to collaborate on a project, for creative services, to contribute your work, or just to say ‘hi.’ I think about closing this blog all the time but what keeps it going is hearing from readers who really enjoy it and the creative minds whose efforts populate its pages.
Thank you for reading,
Jacob
